300 High Street, Rochester, ME1 1HS
Andy Jays is certainly one of the longest established tattoo and piercing studios in kent and one of the longest in the UK, we are a very friendly family business.
We are registered and licensed to operate with Medway Council and health authority to ensure your peace of mind on health and hygiene levels provided within our studios, and provide private facilities for all tattooing and piercing work.
We have a very large client base, with some people travelling many miles to visit us, as yet we have not had to succumb to an appointment only basis, therefore walk-in customers are always very welcome, as are first timers.
ID will definitely be required for your first tattoo and may well be asked for at anytime to prove that you are over 18 yrs of age, so please bring with you photo identification. Parental consent Cannot be given for those under 18yrs.
If you have any questions regarding Tattoos or piercing please call us anytime on 01634 404364 during studio opening hours (see bottom of page) or drop in to the studio for a free consultation anytime.
Bring your own design with you or chose from the huge selection of tattoo designs that we have available for our customers, including all styles such as Tribal, Japanese, Celtic, new school and of course traditional. All designs can be altered to allow for individual requirements such as size, colour, addition or subtraction of certain elements.
Consider and select your design and its location with great care, as you will have to live with it for the rest of your life. Always discuss with us the look that you require such as colour, size, placement etc. However some leeway is better allowed for the artistic aspects of your design to be left to the experience of the tattoo artist to achieve the best results possible.
Remove the tattoo covering after 2 to 3 hours and then Wash with mild warm soapy water and pat very gently dry. Apply a light coating of Bepanthen Ointment (available from any supermarket or pharmacy) if Bepanthen is really not available Vasaline or Savlon may be used but Bepanthen is far better so please use it if at all possible as the results are worth it for the very small costs involved. Continue to do this at least two to three times daily more if the tattoo is in a high rub or movement area until the tattoo is completely healed or all scabbing has gone usually 7 to 10 days. It is also a good idea to cover the tattoo for the first night with cling-film after applying the Bepanthen to prevent sticking to bedding, never cover with anything absorbent though. Do Not rub or scratch and definitely do not pick the tattoo. Avoid sunbathing, swimming, saunas, sun beds and soaking in the bath. Call us always if you have any questions.
The ancient Egyptians were the first recorded civilisation to decorate the body with tattoos The tattoos on hips, chest and arms were considered erotic, also facial work and certain designs were used to express fertility, sexuality and of course love.
Today tattoos are worn body wide to express all manner of things from devotion to a football team, love of family or just good old freedom of expression and individuality.
We can provide all manner and types of piercing in an open or private setting, appointments are not required so just turn up at anytime during studio opening hours. Rest assured that all jewellery used is sterilised prior to use and all needles are new and sterile to hospital standards and immediately disposed of after use in safe and health authority required manner.
Mike the piercer is one of the most experienced professional piercer's in the UK. Due to his experience and expertise in this field for more than 18 years and with the backing of his prior medical experience you can be sure you are in good hands.
Anaesthetics or numbing
Most of the piercings provided can and will be numbed with the use of carefully applied topical anaesthetics, this of course is not mandatory and if you do not require it please inform us. The use of topical anaesthetics allows for the provision of a painless piercing experience and if applied properly and professionally will cause no delay in the healing of a piercing.
Most jewellery types can be provided whether plain, jewelled, rings or bars. Please feel free to discuss with us your requirements as we can accommodate for most needs. However please understand that we are bound by health regulations on the jewellery used during the initial piercing and healing period, but can satisfy most requests within these boundaries.
We cannot use jewellery that is brought into us by yourselves because we cannot be sure of its material content and of course it is not sterile.
